The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe: A Comfort Food Favorite!

There is something so comforting and nostalgic about a warm chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven and this is our absolute favorite recipe! I have made these cookies for so many different occasions...they've traveled in care packages across the country to people I love, they've welcomed my siblings to our home for the holidays after their long travels and they've been the perfect addition to a cozy movie night at home! The love and intention behind homemade chocolate chip is where the magic is found.



1. Gather Your Ingredients

  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup of granulated sugar

  • 1 cup of packed light brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature

  • 2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 2 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips


2. Let's Get Baking!

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla

  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients until well combined.

  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  • Place the cookie dough into the fridge for 20 minutes to chill

  • Using an ice cream scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
